BERİL GÜLCAN

Beril Gulcan is a photographer born in Istanbul, Turkey and living and working in Manhattan, New York. In 2010 she graduated from ICP (International Center of Photography) and from then founded Mica Studios which she ran from 2010-2016 as a photo rental space in Williamsburg, Brooklyn as well as an alternative space to work on her own personal photo and video projects.

Her work is focused mainly on portraits and hand-made collages composed of her own photographs. Inspired to work with people, hear their stories, and capture their purity, emotions, and lifestyles, her passion lies in connecting with bizarre, yet violently calm, beautiful characters and environments, and expressing such in film and digital print.
