OF TIME AND CITY

Of Time and City, is a series structured by a visual syntax of loss. The instability of place through decay, memory, and perception remains central to the work. The image is no longer a landscape, but a worn record of its own support. In Derrida’s sense, what appears forms a post-photographic field of traces, with presence displaced from itself. Created through generative systems, synthetic emptiness sustains misremembrance and erosion of meaning. The image becomes a sediment of perception, suspended in a state where appearance never fully arrives, yet never disappears.

Vikki Bardot is an award-winning multidisciplinary AI artist and filmmaker with a background in classical music and cinema. She is regarded as one of the early practitioners in the field and delivered a TEDx talk on artificial intelligence and art in 2023. Her work is rooted in the aesthetics of early photography and avant-garde movements, and has been exhibited internationally, including in New York, London, Paris, Rome, Berlin, Barcelona, Seoul, Los Angeles, Sao Paulo, Dubai, and Miami. She has been featured in international publications, from Variety to The Art Newspaper. In 2025 she co-produced and co-wrote Post Truth, the first feature-length AI-generated documentary in history. Her second AI short film, Dreamt by Another was selected for more than 20 traditional film festivals, and nominated for Best Short Film at Turkish Film Critics Association Awards (SIYAD). Her most recent exhibition, Formless, was held in New York at the end of 2025.
