Hypertopographics is a groundbreaking collaboration between world-renowned photographer Edward Burtynsky and pioneering generative AI artist Alkan Avcıoğlu. The series examines large-scale industrial systems in which the human imprint has expanded beyond our ability to comprehend the structures we have built and their environmental impact. Expanding upon and reinterpreting the influential New Topographics movement, it investigates contemporary conditions shaped by overwhelming industrial scale, technological complexity, and global interconnectedness. The series was named a finalist for the Lumen Prize in 2026.
